Khadigi is a social startup, with a mission to achieve socio-economic stability for the skilfull artisans. Khadigi, works closely with Mahatma Gandhi Seva Ashram, Joura a khadi institution in Morena District, Madhya Pradesh. MGSA is an organization, which was established by a great leader inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas, Shri S.N Subbahrao ji in the early 1980’s for rehabilitating the 670 dacoits of Chambal region.
This place became a symbol of change and Non Violence for the country. Special work on hand spun hand-woven fabric provides employment to over 250 women spinners and artisans creating over five thousand metres of fabric a month. Khadigi is the official marketing and research partner of MGSA, Developing new weaves, products and prints, subsequently providing a go-to market strategy, and generating revenue for the organization.
Our centres are at Maheshwar, Joura and Morena which employ women weavers and dacoits generating designer fabrics and sarees. We are developing 2 more production centres at Chanderi and Bwavra in Madhya Pradesh for better fabric range in sarees and home furnishing.
Overall, khadigi has directly/indirectly provided and sustained employment of around 300 artisans, manufacturing 10000 meters of fabric on a monthly basis.
